Land of the midnight sun

My second countdown this year is almost over. We’re very close to Midsummer, which has a magical meaning to most Finns. It’s the nightless night, often considered the biggest celebration of the summer. It is also the turning point towards darker times: daylight starts to diminish minute by minute from Midsummer onwards.

I’d like to share this Midsummer video by VisitFinland. It sums up very well the beauty of Finland this time of year: nature, light, happiness, quietness.

Of course this video does not show the excessive use of alcohol and the annual drowning statistics of Midsummer, but let’s forget them for a while and focus on happy thoughts.

♥ In the meantime: My crochet bag is packed and I’m ready for a few days off from work.
